It was also UK's birthday! :)

Today we went to meet a fellow exchange student from Melbourne (sometimes I wonder if we even left the state haha) in everyone's favourite Otaku hub, Akihabara! As soon as we step out of the station we spot the AKB48 cafe with a lengthy queue outside the entrance.


There are maids EVERYWHERE! In all different kinds of costumes and colours handing out leaflets for their cafe. Plus they're all extremely cute so it's hard to choose one. Think I'll do a bit of research first.
We found some interesting albeit somewhat disturbing shops in this area. Eventually we came across a purikura with rentable cosplay outfits. Of course we had to try! :)

We had a fire drill this morning, and practiced how to best protect ourselves during an earthquake and how to escape using a ladder. Unfortunately I didn't precede that everyone would wake up earlier in order to prepare for the drill. So my awesome friend took a picture of me in my PJs. Good times.

...rode on the back of a bike for the first time! It's about a 15 minute walk to town so my advisors wanted to take their bikes to go and rent some dvds. I assumed I'd be walking beside them until they told me to hop on the back of one of the bikes. It was pretty hilarious. At first I said it was impossible and they looked at me as if I was crazy! So they demonstrated and after a lot convincing I finally got on. It was a actually quite a pleasant ride after I got over the screaming haha :)

I was the only one who wanted to watch a horror movie..

not this one though..

Every rental shop has a closed off section for 'Adults only' with much more naughty stuff. Who knows what fetishes lie behind those curtains..

And today I finally got a phone from softbank! :)

A lot of important paperwork to get through today! So we woke up early and made our way to the city council to get our alien registration and health insurance done. We also had lunch in the same building which had a nice view of the whole city :)

Afterwards we went to meet up with a dear old friend from Melbourne! Who's living and working in Japan at the moment :)

Legend has it that if you ride this with your beloved you'll be calling it quits  very soon haha
